Time spent on angling when not angling

Due to domestic circumstances I am unable to get to the bank as much as I would like. I spend time reading the posts here, and watching as much angling on TV as possible (can't wait for Mr Crabtree tonight). After that I get boxes of tackle out to see what needs replacing, then going online to get replacements. I drool over some items which I can't afford, then go off and read the angling related books I got for Christmas :(

The two best times to go fishing are when it's raining and when it's not

Probably not enough, I've tried reading 'technical' books about particular species and how to catch them but I get bored too quickly. I can read the books about the making of APFA and CTI over and over again though. Recce'ing during the close season I've tried but finding a brilliant location without being able to fish it is torture so most of my prospecting is done during the season with a rod.

My rods are set up and ready to go all year so apart from the odd 'pin cleaning session I don't do much there either. Come to think of it when I'm not actually angling I don't do much that is related to angling.

It's never a 'six', let's put it back

There's some pretty good angling progs on tv at the moment so spend time watching those (can't wait for Crabtree to start either), plus float making, fly tying, rig making, reading through catalogues.... far more time then I spend actually fishing :(

I spend a ridiculous amount of time doing angling related stuff.

I have a pretty big collection of angling books, some of which I have read numerous times, the same with angling DVD's. I tend to buy two or three of the angling monthlies plus AT & mail every week.

I always seem to be making list for my next session (gear to take, baits to prepare or buy), notes on where I should fish next & how to fish it.

Most days I have a look on here and Tenchtalk.

When I can, I enjoy taking a walk around my my local water - fish spotting & chatting to some of the anglers - Im just realising how flippin obsessed I am!!

I also love sorting out my gear, making rigs etc. As I only get out about once a week I probably spend more time doing these things than I do actually fishing.

I spend way more time thinking about fishing, planning for sessions/campaigns and preparing tackle and bait than actually fishing. I like to feel prepared, especially as most of my sessions are either very short or very long (not much inbetween), which means proper preparation is equally important, albeit in very different ways.

I also like scoping out new waters, but I always now do this without fishing gear, except for a plumbing rod and a pen and paper. I've made the mistake of recceing new waters with fishing gear before, and funnily enough I never got very far before I absolutely had to have a cast

The planning and preparing is also lots of fun; it's loaded with anticipation :)

I spend nights awake thinking about what I want to catch where im gonna fish, what tactics/new tactics, when can I wangle an hours fishing in around the family, where could I go where the family could come for a picnic etc I spend more time obsessing over these things than actually fishing and the new floats im making arent helping!!!

I can often be found tinkering with reels, replacing line, checking rods, meddling in tackle boxes and such. I often get accused of playing like a kid.

Sounds about right........

Doing a bit of perching tomorrow so this evening will be spent tying up some hooklengths and link legers, just in case they're needed. I usually find if I spend the time and have plenty spare and ready I don't need them, if I don't bother I do :)
