razor clams and razor clam meat

yeah over here; razor clam and razor fish are one in the same;

here in Norfolk best place to head for them is Brancaster or Holkham;

wander down the beach following the tide out and you can pick 'em. look two small cone shaped holes in the sand about a foot apart: (the razorclam lurks in a U shaped burrow the holes are the upper arms of the U shape with the clam at its base)

when you find the holes, sprinkle salt into them and wait...the clam will emerge thinking the tide is coming back up...

its easier said than done...some days you can pick a load of 'em..other you will struggle to get one or two.

once you have 'em they need to be "flushed" in clean water with a bit of salt in it.....a good few hours there...then fry em up!! use them for bait indeed! what a waste! :)

hi

yes razor clams are sometimes calles razor fish but they are a clam.

i was only trying to find out if this was something worth looking into doing for the anglers as i get quite a lot of broken razor clams and can pack them in there shell or take out the meat and freeze them down.

quite happy to work with somebody on this if they are intrested.

Syd666 - that's a great offer. Why don't you start a topic in the sea fishing section and see if there is interest.
