As it say's in the title, I've had a couple of £12 pound ones but they don't last. One was a Disk scriber that didn't last long, the present Samsung will read and play an audio CD but keeps crashing Windows Explorer as it takes so long to read from the disk.

Any recommenations please?

I recently bought a Samsung one for a microserver with no optical drive in it - seems to work fine, but all I've done with it is install Windows Server and SQL Server from discs, so can't really comment.

I'll have a look this evening at Asus, my PC has an Asus MB and after six years seems to be doing fine. I've got a years worth of Raw photo's to take from DVD's and onto an external drive....................... must remember to do it monthly.
