Cheap Sit-On-Top Fishing Kayak

A few of the lads on our sister site, North East Sea Angling, have been discussing these. Seems to have good feedback, too.

if it was for the sea, i would like it to be the brightest colour avalible, pink even?

Was someone looking for a camo one today on here?

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

A few things I could say about this kayak. Firstly, it looks like a cheap Chinese import. There have been some serious safety issues with those.

2nd, it's camouflaged, just what you don't want when the RNLI are looking for you. A bright colour is safer, orange is favourite.

2rd, it's too fat, it will be hard to paddle any distance, and much too short for sea fishing. it might do for a small lake or river, but defo not the sea.

Cheap is not a good idea when sourcing a sea fishing kayak. Quality comes at a price, but what price your life?

There are lots of bright colours available.

Either e bay or Anglers afloat forum are the places to pick up a bargain quality second hand yak Moken/Trident/Tarpon would all fit the bill and even if not the fishing version can soon be adapted and most will be meening anchor trolley and all the bits already fitted.

I'd like to get this going again as I'm seriously thinking of getting one. I've been looking at these since Elton put this thread up. I would like some advice or value your opinions on thickness, length, width. If I had a pink one it would match my new wet suit I got today and my new body board not that I would be using the two together!!

Also it would be nice if someone wouldn't mind me tagging along and teach me what I should be doing. It's going to be a whole lot different from course fishing and sea fishing from a boat.So would you advice I get some practice in on the canal or just go for it. I have a friend in Dorset who is a very experienced sea kayaker so he could help with me getting used to kayaking in the sea.

Any advice gratefully received

Thanks

Lyn for what it`s worth my fishing buddy has one of these and tbh it`s a bit cheap and nasty compared to a secondhand Tarpon or Moken plus they sit low in the water but are functional enough just think if you shop around you could get a better quality named yak for the same sort of money with a decent seat . We keep ours on the narrowboat so if you give me notice you are welcome to come and have a go we have the tarpon 100 and 120 angler and boat is on kennet on outskirts of Reading ....longer is better if you are thinking of having a go at sea better tracking through the water/waves .keep your eyes peeled on e bay or Anglers afloat forum or Coarse kayak fishing forum for bargains Steve

Thanks Steve, I may well take you up on that. There is a 130 on ebay at the moment.I'm looking at it more for sea fishing so we can take it over to Scilly both for fishing and pleasure.

What's the difference in 120 & 130 etc?
