Yes Andy, i can access the Microsoft sites, its a complete nw install of Home XP.

Xp is supported through to 2014 or 15 I believe.

Windows update won't work for XP until SP3 is installed but you say you have one that already.

If your PC is an hp pavilion or presario and has an amd CPU there is a vital patch to load as well.

Also ensure you installed this version of sr3

Got to install my other stuff now. SERCURITY ESS all done, adobe done, printer scanner done, etc, no chuffing sound through ha ha ha. I'll plod on thru the CDrom do dahs and see what comes of it.

ict support thought process guidance for IT Techs:

1: is the item turned on

2: is it plugged in

3:is plug switch turned on

 

I get maybe 4 call outs a day to IT situations that the above resolves within 2 mins of me walking into the room! then people moan at me when they ask:

"wow! what did you do?"

and I reply

"turned it ON!" and walk out.

ha ha, my missus is the tops for that kiri, oh its not working, turn it on then, i wont say nowt about this little mishap, got a lot on my mind to think of silly things like " is it plugged in "
