Beginning of the end??????

Before I start, this is said with absolutely NO malice.

1st - I don't go along with the "foxes being controlled by the hunt", that's just an excuse. It's hardly practical and efficient is it.

2nd - Were I a fox, i'd much prefer a bullet in the head than be chased, terrified and then be torn to bits by a rowdy mob.

i cannot believe that there are so many people out there that are truly naieve enough to believe that the ban coming in will be of no effect to us.

there are far too many neroes on here, fiddling while angling burns.

Right on, Mark, and your second post re the effect on fox populations is spot on too (I have said the same thing in a slightly different way on the Cormorant Update thread)

your right in your first statement "control" isnt a factor as foxes being killed are rarely seen and most are killed by the terrier men after going to ground if there not clever enough to get clean away.

your second statement is open to question ,i would if i were a fox rather be chased and escape (as happens on many many occasions and by more than one fox in a hunt) and live in a land where i can raise a family and not have the threat of shooting or snares untill the hunt next comes round to my patchagain a few months later ,remember also the fox has the better chance off succeeding in a hunt he knows by experience every foot of his patch the hounds do not ,in a hunt the fox has the advantage ;)there is no advantage to a fox in being shot from a 100 yards away ,he learns nothing so cannot use it to his advantage

Living in an area where there is no active hunting (as with hounds and horse) but there is a lot of pheasant shooting, it has become very noticeable that there are almost no foxes to be seen or heard.

I drive home along country lanes in the dark several times a week and have only seen 1 fox in three years.

They are shot by hunters at night with rifles and laser sights.

Mind you, you should have heard the uproar from my neighbors when the "new guy who controls the shooting" was driving around the fields behind where I live recently at 11 o'clock at night!!!!!!!!!!!!

Police everywhere :D:D:D

And I thought that they were all in favour of "controlling Verrrrrrrrrmin"

Bit of an eye opener, I wonder what they think about fishing????

Bear baiting, like trimmering, and now fox hunting, all belong to a less civilised time Mark.

The future of angling is in the hands of anglers. When I repeatedly see the RSPCA Inspector out treating swans caught up in line then I can hardly blame the RSPCA for being anti angling.

There are traditions worth hanging on to Mark, but killing with hounds is not one of them.
