Adding to Gingers post...If you like motor racing then watch world superbikes which starts on sunday on eurosport and bbc 2.

The racing is superb and once you get to know the riders its as good as F1 and the racing is more exiting.

There are 3 good British riders to cheer for and thats a sheffield rider called James toseland who as a good chance of winning the championship this year, a nottinghamshire bloke called chris walker who slides a bike and is a very exiting rider to watch, and Leon Haslam who is the son of Ron Haslam who used to race against Barry sheene in the 80s.

You get 2 races per meeting and its awesome.

I can't wait for the season to start and especially Silverstone, as I will be there for 3 days. Myself and a few friends are camping for the weekend and really looking forward to it

Ahh, my joint favorite spectator sport together with the wonderful game itself.

I grew up in a town called Buckingham just 5 or so miles fromn Silverstone. What a buzz the town has over grand prix weekend - Many of the teams book into local hotels, and in years gone by some top drivers have frequented the local hostelries (sp?)No name dropping, but in the week leading up to grand prix, and during testing periods, just pop into the Villiers Hotel bar on Castle Street....

Fondest memory - Police escort into the circuit on race day, driven in a Mercedes. Police traffic car and two motor bikes. The car took us to Whittlebury (if any one knows the area), and once the traffice built up, the bikes took over. Gratis tickets including paddock. Took my place with my friend on the inside of Copse, right by the pit lane exit - Exactly where Nigel Mansell pulled over to retire from the race whilst driving for Farrari. He turned and waved before throwing his balaclava and gloves into the crowd. I still have the 5 mins on video from the highlights programme with me jumping madly to try and catch one!

I still live in the area - Now in Milton Keynes. I work in Northampton so there is high focus onb the sport all around me. One of my now clients? Justin Wilson - Last years rookie for Minardi and then Jaguar. Role on the new season.

Yeah, Yeah ......

As a youth, I was a biker myself, and used to go to Oulton Park a lot, living only a few miles away.

But....

That is just straight racing.

Formula 1 has that strategy element that not many other forms of motor racing has.

Are they going fast in the first stint because they are light on fuel ?

Are they stopping once twice or three times ?

The maths involved is amazing!

I love that part of it, especially as me and a mate (KENDO) race each other on PCs when we get the chance. Trying to out think the others pit stop strategies is brilliant, and often hillarious !

Dont get me wrong , I like most forms of motor racing as well. Loved the old style Touring Car racing, but F1 does it for me !
