I have bought tins of flavoured sweetcorn, and apart from coloured hands, I haven't really noticed any increase in catches

The two best times to go fishing are when it's raining and when it's not

I did quite well with brazen flavoured corn for tench a few years ago. I just squirted some of the liquid flavour over the corn in a bait box and left it for a while. Oddly, and I still don't know why, I caught quite a lot of small perch on the flavoured corn and none on the unflavoured...!

I was actually mainly after bream, and thought the extra sweet flavour might increase my chances after dark.

Stupid phone - that should be brasem!

One thing I like to do is add a little more salt a squirt of honey for sweetness top up with water so its all covered then freeze.

It makes it softer and I believe increases your chance of a good hook hold.

Never really bothered flavouring corn but I use it often enough, so maybe I should try it. Even a bit of honey or something. Tried Strawberry Pescaviva a couple of times but it didn't seem to catch any more fish, though it smells quite tempting, so probably best avoided in case I run out of sandwiches.

Never bought flavoured/coloured corn but I tried colouring corn red once, my hands looked like a serial killers and saw no difference in catch results. Unless it's a water that sees a lot of 'regular' sweetcorn I wouldn't bother.

If it aint broke ;)

As famous fisherman John Gierach once said "I used to like fishing because I thought it had some larger significance. Now I like fishing because it's the one thing I can think of that probably doesn't."

I often add some liquid flavour to my corn, I empty the tin in a plastic bag and add a little bit of liquid flavour and give it a good shack and leave it over night or at least a few hours to soak in. Saves bringing a tin to the bank and I do believe it makes a difference. I tend to use pineapple or scopex when after Tench or Bream but happy to use any so called "sweet" addatives.. Dynamite Baits pineapple being my favourite additive for corn.

I have tried flavoured vs unflavoured and actually found natural corn to out fish the different coloured and flavoured stuff. I dont really bother to add to it now. A lot of the time if I am using corn it will be carried in a groundbait anyway and I would use one or two pieces on the hook. The groundbait takes care of the flavours and the corn takes care of the visual attractant.

Sweetcorn has a great smell and taste to it anyway. However I suspect the fish will eventually wise up to it. So flavours can be useful. I've done particularly well with sweet flavours. I tend to use a sharp flavour like pineapple in low water temperatures, something smoother like peach when it's warmer.

All,

Attractants of note with sweet corn are kola nut, licorice root, beet molasses, brewers yeast, marshmallow root, and peppermint. Anything that starts "gly"
