Fluorocarbon pike traces

They don't seem like a knife edge tooth though ?

Perhaps showing my ignorance Andy but I didn't think Pike teeth were knife-edged, just recurved and bloody sharp!

Eating wild caught fish is good for my health, reduces food miles and keeps me fit trying to catch them........it's my choice to do it, not yours to stop me!

Not exactly knife edge but not far off it. a lot of them are quite flat and sharp edged.

Best pic I could find of them.

The last view of many a small roach!

I must admit that fishing for plaice and turbot is the extent of my use of F/C. I did try it as a fly leader a while back but didn't get on with it.

Actually looking at that pic I can see now there's actually a lot more knife edged teeth on pike than I first thought.

Are the sea species with sharp teeth not more rounded with the tip being the sharpest point?

Pike teeth are for piercing and holding, not for cutting, but if you ping any soft filament over a sharp point you run the risk of cutting it.

Compare the teeth to a wire brush Andy. If you inserted some line between the wire 'teeth' of the brush to the base and pulled hard, you'd not cut you're mono or F/C. If you dragged it across the top it would fray and weaken it to the point where it would/could break.

Must be the Pike Police day off :-) or maybe the more rounded Anglers on AN don't go apoplectic at any deviation from the excepted norms of predator fishing. Post this sort of thread on a species specific forum and they would explode with the zealotry zeal not seen since the spanish inquisition.

I have always found Anglers Net to have a higher number of anglers who speak from experience then many other forums (mainly the species specif ones) who just trawl out percieved wisdom that they have been indoctrinated in rather then speak from experience or challenge excepted norms.

Try posting about Perch or Zander fishing of any method on a Pike Forum with out your wire trace and the Pike Luddites will descend from on high to bash you with the PAC bible.

Not sure what a "norm" is excepted or not ,lots of people except things without question when so called experts tell them to many except things even from non experts ,its a bad trait we have.

I simply follow any rules the club impose on me for allowing me to fish i dont care what the norm is outside of that.
