History will doubtless judge her as one of the great world leaders of her age, a judgement with which I would probably concur.

 

My sympathies to her family.

Very debatable and a thread i can see on here going for a very long time. It was described that she should be regarded in the same light as Winston Churchill?. I think she thought she was better than winston churchill towards the end and that was her downfall.

 

Many people my age will say 'What did she do for me? Some will say much and some nothing at all. She certainly was controversial and split the nation wide open which effects the way we live today. One thing is for sure i can't see the welsh valleys will be sad or the coal miners in the NE...

I can't say I'm happy or sad, there was a time when I would have been elated at the news, but the death of this sad old woman leaves me feeling indifferent. When I think back at the personal and regional misery this woman caused, it still makes me angry.

I can't help remembering what Frankie Boyle said when it was suggested that we have a state funeral at the cost of several million pounds.

He said that for that money they could provide everyone in Scotland with a shovel. They would dig a hole so deep that they could hand her over to Satan personally.

I strongly believe that many of todays problems are rooted in the policies instigated during her 'reign'.

What about all the people that lost their lives (both physically, and mentally), their dignity, their hope, their future, as well as their families, during her reign? It's hard to feel any sorrow at the news. As I said in my other post, there was a time when I would have felt the same as Tony.

as you might guess from other postings of mine I was far from a fan of the iron lady, but I find it quite sad when people feel the need to be so vitriolic.

 

She hurt me and many of my friends very deeply, and for that it is difficult to forgive her.

 

I detested many of her policies, but she was a warm hearted mother and her kids will today be mourning their mother.
