Thatcher was a civil dictatorship. Instead of talking round tables to strikers who had civil rights in a democratic country she either did but gave little quarter or she wiped them out.

Strange how the NUM officials nor their families suffered during the year long strike.

Now look at the Derbyshire " officials " and the Durham " officials. lording it over a long dead industry on huge salaries and even more obscene expenses.

Huummmm, the guy who is making comments in your link is a mis guided fool who is under the impression that had the belgrano not been sunk the 'WAR' would have ended sooner. Well he don't want to gripe too much, the islands where invaded and his dictatorship generals where responsible and as it was WAR the ship was sunk. And why on earth should Maggie Thatcher be judged on her actions of defence against an aggressor. The translation is a little sus.

The Americans loved Maggie. Without Maggie and Nancy poor old Ronald would have been lost... :bleh: :bleh:

 

As to the Belgrano...I remember an exclusion zone in which anything entering would be attacked...supposedly anything outside the zone would be safe..the Belgrano was in fact out of the zone and sailing away.

Enemy or not the sinking left a bad taste for many.

 

The Falklands war was a great distraction from some pretty hard nosed policies and ensured her forthcoming victory in the General Elections.
