Wingham Fish-In Sat 18th to Mon 20th May 2013

It might be the year for one of the rare monster carp to put in an appearance on a Fish-In. One of my members lost one in the Carp Lake fishing a piece of black foam after dark a foot below the surface in 9 foot of water.

There's a lot of daphnia about in the Carp Lake this year and, as daphnia is orange, I'd make sure you have some orange foam with you.

I struggle to get members to fish zig rigs at Wingham, but I've found them very effective. In fact over half my carp at Wingham have come on them!

The less active the tench, the more chance of bream. I reckon someone will get one! And it will be HUGE! Those bream are something else, they just look awesome. Remember that Wingham has now produced 3 different 18lb+ bream, plus all the 15, 16 and 17lbers. I don't know of anywhere else that can match that. Bear in mind too that there are bream in the lake that have never seen the bank...those fish could be any size. When your bobbin lifts and your alarm beeps, it might be one of them.

And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music

I think the bar for catches at Wingham Fish-Ins has been set very high with some trully amazing results over the years. Bench marking against some previous years is always going to be difficult but as Budgie summed up nicely, what is classed as difficult fishing at Wingham can include catches of some big specimen fish.

For most fishing this week end it's a once a year chance and if Steve gets oversubscribed the following year, you may not make the cut. Even for members it's a great opportunity as Steve may put us in swims we may over look yourselves or give us a go on the Carp lake. I am lucky to be a member and even though I can choose my own swim outside the Fish-In, one of my favourites is a swim Steve put me in on a Fish-In.

Maybe it might not be the most prolific year but I bet there will still be some big fish caught and a few PB's. In fact the amount of PB's caught most years is staggering, and that often includes PB's to returning guests.

You might not get many bites, but if you do it could be from a very special fish. I'm another who thinks some one might get a Bream. They will be in front of someone over the weekend and if things go in your favour, you could end up with a fish of a life time.

Good luck to all attending.

Stephen

All though still doubtfull of seeing a slab on the bank I think both Anderoo and Dales make good points in that the more fishing the more chance of someone having the bream in front of them and the reduced (if it is so) activity of the tench increasing the chances of one taking a bait. Time will tell.

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

Good luck to all, I am gutted as long term plans for the weekend have been cancelled and I could of made it after all.

Any reason why you think it's unlikely Budgie, apart from it's always quite unlikely? The fish-ins have a pretty good record for producing bream...

Again i have to point out that its my second year...... But in my opinion it has every chance. more anglers yes making a noise but at night not so and the weather if it suits any fish it has to be Bream surely. Still i bow to your Knowledge big fellah :)

If you and andrews snoring does not venture over to the coarse lake as there is a huge possibility it might and will not make the ground shake .

Also Andrews hearing and your eyesight it will be like 'hear no evil see no evil' movie . Andrew lands the fish and you tell him when you hear his alarm. I promise not to cut your leg off with a chainsaw this year andrew :)

You both had my Mrs in fits last year as even being opposite us it was like watching and hearing Laurel and Hardy....:);).

I requested to go on the coarse lake but Steve has a knack i think amongst members what they like and the best swim to put them in :)

There is not one thing different between ideology and religeon
