Are we coarse anglers living in the past over prices?

Please before any comments (negative) regarding day ticket and club prices .. I would urge anyone to get actively involved in the running of your club.

I do - it's hard work and costs me fishing time. I am on a committee and attend meetings, write bulletins etc. As we are elected we get 'paid' but nobody ever claims the salary to my knowledge.

I was interested in thread so I reviewed my tickets to see what I had access to. Here is the list which has more info on the rivers as that is what I am most interested in. All for a combined cost of £90 per year!

Rivers

3 miles of Thames (private)

2.5 miles of kennet (mostly private - opposite towpath so no public access except for mooring boats.

1.5 miles kennet and avon canal - towpath

1.5 miles of river ouse - no public access

2.5 miles of Loddon - no public access

3 miles of Whitewater - all private

500 yards of blackwater - public footpath

Plus

30 miles of Basingstoke Canal

a large gravel pit with double figure bream and 50lb carp.

Several other pits and lakes - mostly with no, or restricted access.

Not counting the lakes, and the Basingstoke Canal I make that just over 16p per mile! Bargain!

I can catch barbel to 16lb+ (but can't coz I don't know how to).

Chub to 7lb+ (tick)

Perch to 3lb+ (tick)

Bream to 12lb (no idea how to catch these in an inland sea)

Carp to 50lb (ditto)

Tench to 8lb (can't catch decent sized tench coz I'm useless)

Grayling, dace, roach, rudd, crucians, pike etc.

Brilliant really.
