Dammit i thought it was mine!

Believe NOTHING anyones says or writes unless you witness it yourself and even then your eyes can deceive you

None of this "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" crap it just means i have at least two enemies!

There is only one opinion i listen to ,its mine and its ALWAYS right even when its wrong

Its far easier to curse the darkness than light one candle

Mathew 4:19

Grangers law : anything i say will  turn out the opposite or not happen at all!

Life insurance? you wont enjoy a penny!

"To compel a man to furnish contributions of money for the propagation of opinions which he disbelieves and abhors, is sinful and tyrannical." Thomas Jefferson

When the Taliban was fighting the USSR the west was not only talking to them but giving them the means to fight.

I remember as a child the BBC glorifying the fact the Taliban had successfully engaged a Russian convoy or shot down a Russian jet. I remember one striking news piece when a soldier fired a rocket into an unarmed convoy hitting a soft target. Nobody in the west gave a toss about the rules of war, civilian rights or education for girls etc etc.

Back then the Taliban were the buffer against USSR expansion and our best buddies, a bit like Saddam or Osama. Seems like every friend of the west becomes tomorrows enemy. Pity the friends of the west today as their future may not be too bright.

Now the USSR is no more so the Taliban become the enemy. Seems like we must have our enemies lest we lose the justification for murder and mayhem. We must have our enemies to justify the production of our means to kill. A government will spend billions to kill and nothing by comparison to promote peace.

Afghanistan has been a major blight for a century or more and the west uses it and discards it as it sees fit. Nothing I see today is seemingly different from the time of USSR occupation just different political objectives.

Maybe Shell have identified potential Oil pockets ripe for plunder...who knows??

I think you will find it was the Mujahideen who waged war on the USSR. The Taliban followed by taking over Afghanistan in 1996 I think.

See the film Charlie Wilson's War.
