Fishing in South Wales

Recommended Posts

Due to an unfortunate change of circumstances I've recently had to move towards home (Wales) for a bit of a recharge (You can read about the whole sha-bang on the blog if you like). http://coarsefishingpaul.blogspot.co.uk/

But I'm now based back in South Wales. So if anyone fancies recommending some fisheries for me to try out when I'm fully mobile again (Preferably with level is pegs as balance is a slight issue at the moment).

I'm thinking of;

Cefn Mably

Port Talbot Docks

Hendre Lake

River Wye

Caerphilly Moat

Birch Syndicate

A bit of a mixed back, but feel free to chuck a few more in the mix!

Tight Lines.

Hi Paul, I'm sorry to learn of your illness, I hope the recovery, is speedy, and complete.

I've enjoyed your blogs from my neck of the woods, (Leeds). Some of them covered waters I fished regularly as a kid, but haven't visited in years. A real trip down memory lane :) .

Good luck with the move back home, and again with the illness.

John.

Angling is more than just catching fish, if it wasn't it would just be called 'catching'......... John

Thanks John,.

I wouldn't mind getting back up North as I really did enjoy living and fishing in Yorkshire. I've got a few older posts to go up, which are complete but never went online. I should get them up over the next couple of days.

Cheers again

Paul.

Has anyone been to Cliff Harvey Angling in Cilyfyndd? I went there on the advice of one of my friends, saying that it had loads of stuff and was really good value. I left feeling very disappointed. Going to try Tacklesmart in Ebbw Vale tomorrow. There doesn't seem to be many big tackle shops in South Wales, which is very surprising considering the amount of people of go fishing!

Afternoon all! Went fishing to Riverside (in Llanbradach) the other day. Surface fishing using the pole. Great sport, loads of fish. Was tiring but well worth it!

You can have a read here and look at some pictures here - http://coarsefishingpaul.blogspot.co.uk/

Looking at getting out on the river shortly, anyone recommend any stretches in South/Mid Wales which produce reasonable Chub and Barbel? Preferably day ticket waters.

Thanks

Morning all, visited a few tackle shops recently to see where I could get the best value for money.

So far I've visited;
Garry Evans
Green's
Tony's Tackle
Cefn Mably
Tacklesmart
Cliff Harvey

I know there are a few more to go to as well, but if you can suggest any it would be greatly appreciated.

You can have a read of how I got on in the link below...

After an incredibly busy week I am finally getting round to putting this post up. Cefn Mably Lakes in South Wales. Absolutely full of fish! Had a blinder of a day there, catching good sized fish one after another.

If you're in the area I would definitely give this place a whirl.

Afternoon all,

I managed to get 2 new blogs up recently.

One about the Healthy River program currently being run by the Charity Groundwork on the River Sirhowy. They are slowly re-introducing Salmon into the river as an indictor species after a sustained clean up. So far so good, but lets hope the little bleeder come back!

The second one is a great tackle store I recently visited, and a definite must visit shop if you are in the area.

Morning all! Just posted some new blogs online.

One involving a site visit to a local river (Sirhowy), flowing a recent clean up. The other, a trip to the river Wye. Ended up catching a PB Barbel. Great few hours.
