I would like to take my old dad (85) on a peaceful coarse fishing retreat with accommodation anywhere roughly between Manchester and London. Any recommendations?

Many thanks

Brian

What about a canal boat on the Kennet & Avon?

Hi I can recommend

http://www.mortonspringscoarsefishing.co.uk/

It’s in Warwickshire, near the Worcester/ west midlands boarders

This is based at Roylands Farm, it is a very quite location and the angling during the week is quite, Roylands Farm has holiday cottages to let, the farmer is about the same age as your dad and a nice old chap.

Good fishing, easy access,

The local surroundings are very beautiful and when you are fishing the only sounds are those of the sheep and cattle, you don't hear cars or traffic of any kind, and it is an ideal location for your dad.

The added bonuses are that if you want you can target some very big perch, or fish for Tench.

There are some big roach as well.

In fact the fishing is very varied, I sometimes go and target the rudd.

There are plenty of carp if you enjoy carp fishing,

I prefer to fish the float in the margins, the water is clear as it is spring feed, it is also deep.

When the rivers are out of season this place keeps me going.

Cheers I hope it’s the sort of place you’re looking for.

Sounds a nice place. What is the size range of the rudd, BR?

The biggest I have caught is about a 1lb, but I am sure there are larger fish, they are the prettiest fish with the most amazing colour, I have posted pictures of them here before, I just marvel at them and for that reason enjoy catching them.

but if its big fish you want then the perch are big, the lake record caught in 2004 is 5lb 2 oz

It used to be a wonderful place to fish (three lakes) but you can now only fish the lakes if you are a guest at the hotel. It is just outside Gloucester
