Navigation Rights continued

Recommended Posts

Is it possible to have a sensible discussion about this, without the subject getting locked? I am a keen angler that also believes passionately that citizens have a right to navigate their waterways..

But there seems to be a faction within the angling community that deliberately tries to spoil any meaningful debate, so the mod's end up locking it.

I like to think of myself as an honest and reasonable person. Generally, I pay my taxes, and argue my way in the world. So why are the threads about navigation rights getting locked?

I asked for my topic to be closed andy because it went personal. .Unfortunately I made the mistake of being dragged in. As opposed to keeping to the known facts.

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

Ok Andy we will leave out the bit were you use your canoe to trespass, party and light fires on other peoples land if it makes you feel better.

When did the private land owners give the waterways to the citizens?

is this the debate when canoe and boaters break the law or cause destruction to habitats just because they want to go to places not suitable and so they should be allowed to just because they want to and so that is reason enough?

Could be that this is an angling forum.

Anglers voting for canoe access would be like turkeys voting for Christmas

I'd change that to, 'Anglers voting for complete canoe access, and the right to roam, would be like turkeys voting for Christmas', sorry Dave. :)

We've floated down this stretch of river before Andy, you know the general feeling, but still you try to convert, persuade, whoever, that you are right.

Most of us have said we would be in favour of increased access, but not complete. That's not been good enough for you. On other threads, you've said, you want "the right to roam". A right that no other body/sport/pastime has. You then use selected bits of the Magna Carta to try and add weight to your case, but the bits that are classed as pertinent to your case are subject to so much supposition, that I fail to see why you bother.

John.

The last thread got locked, not because of the subject, but because a couple of posters got personal with insults.

Angling is more than just catching fish, if it wasn't it would just be called 'catching'......... John

When I was but a lad, you could take your rod and fish anywhere that there was water (or so it seemed).

Now all the venues I used to fish for free are controlled by different clubs :(

The canoeists have a problem in that they are a minority interest with few resources pushing against the interests of a much bigger and more powerful lobby group and the interests of wealthy landowners.

A change of strategy might eventually get them where they want to be.

Forget the right to navigate for now, and concentrate on obtaining the right to fish for free wherever you want to.

With millions of anglers benefiting, such a campaign is far more likely to succeed.

Then, when anglers have the right to fish anywhere that takes their fancy for free, that might be the time for canoeists to demand parity with anglers.

(There's some cracking private stretches of the Test and Itchen I'd really like to be able to fish one day)

Anywhere that Joe Public has been allowed, has been ruined by Joe Public. Look at all the quiet little spots where you could once park up and enjoy the scenery, that have had the accesses blocked to keep out travellers.

Agreed. This is an angling forum. You could also argue that turkeys denying that Christmas exist is like ostriches sticking their head's in the sand.
