Change of bite alarms

I have been thinking of retiring my Optonic XL's as I am getting a bit fed up of having to take them apart to change batteries, and one of the ears on one has broken. I was thinking of GF alarms, but their website seems to have disappeared. I don't want to spend megabucks on remotes and the like. I just want a reliable set where I can change the batteries easily and are watrer proof in case of unexpected showers. I don't fish overnight, just during the day, and I use a maximum of two rods. Any suggestions guys

wotnob,

I believe the GF guy is a member of AN. Didn't he say to just e-mail him or something like that in a post one day?

Seems as though Steve B. is connected too. Might pm him.

There was a post a while ago saying the GF alarms aren't being made any more.

I suggest fox micron m, they're very basic and cheap but I've had 2 for over 15 years now and they're still as good as new. I think when I bought them they were £22 each.

And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music

I replaced my GF alarms with Fox Micron Ms and have to say that I am very pleased with them

Yes Anderoo is right that GF Alarm cease production few months ago as the owner didn't have the time to make a mass production!

Yes Fox Micron bite alarm is very good but I think Budgie might able to help you out if you contact him via messages as got quite a few for sale

I have no connection with GF Bite Alarms other than being a satisfied customer for many years and, along with several others on this Forum, giving the new owner (Phil) some advice on a new wireless model.

Phil has put the firm up for sale but I haven't heard he's got a buyer. I've left a message on his voicemail to alert him to this topic. It may be a good idea if the OP sends Phil a PM. His forum name is GF Bite Alarms.

I have sent a PM. There is no rush, but I will check out the Fox alarms in the meantime.

Hi All,

Thanks Steve for the voicemail.

I am not able to make anymore units purely down to time commitments with my new job. The business is still up for sale for £3k which includes all injection mould tooling, existing stocks( which are quite substantial), and also designs & working prototype for a new wireless system which in itself cost £5k to develop and just needs tweaking.

If you or you know anyone interested just PM me.

Thanks

Phil
