Doh....have you run ccleaner recently?

Final thing to do is open charm bar from start screen: choose pc settings, then general.in there is an option to refresh your windows install without effecting your files. Click that and let it do its thing...this will essentially restore windows files to freh defauls hopefully allowing updates again.

Sfc did little and nothings changed unfortunately ,is there any other way of fixing it other than a reinstall at 1.2 mbs on a good day it takes an age just to update windows nevermind install everything else

i still think its a .net problem as i keep getting this page ,trying to do what it says is impossible as when i try to go to the group policy dooda it says access denied !

trying running gpedit.msc from an elevated command prompt: (i watched that one go straight over your head that time..ill explain! :P)

right click bottom left of the desktop where you would normally go fro Start screen.

choose Command Prompt (admin)

in new windows type "gpedit.msc" without the quotes.

then do what the website suggests

you can also remove .NET features under the add remove programs section:

control panel>programs and features>turn windows features on or off> then unclickthe two boxes next to the .Net framework..this will remove them.

restart and try your updates...if they work then simply go back and add the .Net stuff back in later...it is required to run certain metro apps

Unticking the boxes results in an error something about corruption ,can .net be removed physically enough so windows reinstalls it?

I will try the command promp dooda now

All gpedit does is open local computer policy ,whats next?
