If someones removing 5 billion a year from the pot someone has to cough up or lose out to make up the short fall ,and it wont be the shareholders ,the board or the trustees.....

Whatever labour said to blame the preceding conservative government for the mess was rubbish otherwise why didn't they fix it in the 18 years they ran the country?

Absolutely.

Blue Dun, I suggest you read the links in Chester's post, and note that Brown was warned of the consequences of thieving FIVE BILLION PER YEAR at the time.

"Blue Dun" ? - if we are into diagnosing each other's politics, then I suggest "Red Spinner" would be a more appropriate moniker for you.

the tabloids do a pretty effective job of painting a right-wing bluewash

OK, so if you believe that, ignore the Telegraph, and concentrate on the BBC report in Chester's post. No thinking person could accuse them of right-wing bias.

Pension holidays they called them - i.e. money for the corporations while the accounting was in their favour

Keep reading the Telegraph chester. It's always Labour's fault there, even when it's really everybody's fault.

Don't bring financial maths into this Phone; they'll all blow a fuse!

Clever ,you insinuated the telegraph was biased yet ignored my other link saying the exact same thing i had included to show the telegraph was not being biased, must be a comfy set of blinkers you have there or you are related to big cod or rabbit just being rabbit for the sake of it? Believe NOTHING anyones says or writes unless you witness it yourself and even then your eyes can deceive you

None of this "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" crap it just means i have at least two enemies!

It's pretty pointless blaming particular governments, they all (both?) say that the mess they're in is a legacy of the opposition's term(s) in power.

68 before I'm entitled to a state pension, 15 years away. There are also plans afoot to tax pension lump sums.....so you stuggle to fund a pension pot and when you do see light at the end of the tunnel the government will grab a large chunk of it.

It's never a 'six', let's put it back

Dear me. So anyone who does not agree with your reactionary views is a "red". Don't be silly. Wherever you read the story about tax credits, it's the same story, though some papers will obviously put their political slant on it, which you have accepted without realising that pension problems are not primarily political. Your and chester's lack of understanding of these complex issues is the reason you put them down to the actions of one man, or one political party. To be fair to you both, few people do understand the machinations of pensions, but to accuse someone who does of being party political reflects poorly on your good selves.

Take a leaf from phone and rusty's book: they realise this is not such a simple issue. But if you want to boil it down to two easy reasons, I give you these - 1) the economic power of the financial sector; 2) everyone's living longer.

And anyone who doesn't agree with you is too dumb to understand these complex issues?

Let's agree to respect each others views, no matter how wrong yours may be.

Not a question of dumbness. A question of knowledge, and knowing the limitations of your knowledge. You can join in the to-ing and fro-ing if you want.

In this instance it was blue dun, as I quoted from his post.
