fishing with a bubble float

just two completely different methods for different circumstances.

the short hook length hangs in the surface film, along with the maggot or caster.

try doing that with a waggler

the reason for the fierce takes,in my opinion, is that the fish come up from the deeper water(fast)grab the offering and dissapear quickly into the deeper water (and safety) again.

i use a waggler 99% of the time, but as the light fades, i will sometimes use the bubble float,to see if i can pick up one of the bonus bigger fish.

Why use a bubble float with a pole?

It's there to provide casting weight, you don't need to cast with a pole.

If any thing's needed, a matchstick or even a small piece of twig would do the job, and be less conspicuous.

Angling is more than just catching fish, if it wasn't it would just be called 'catching'......... John

Leave him. He's got a bubble and he's determined to use it, even though he's been advised against doing so, which makes me wonder (again!) why people even bother asking for advice in the first place.
