Not much to add really - a couple of pics below to give you an idea of the types of lures and bits and pieces I use (5" paddle tail or fork tail shads in various colours, jig heads of 30g and 35g (you might get away with less on calm days but keeping in touch with the lure is vital and more weight helps), stingers made with wire and size 10 trebles, a baiting needle to thread the stingers on, little clips, 13lb flourocarbon for the leader (tied onto the braid with an albright knot and the clip with a palomar):

And the rod and reel - 6' 7-24g v jigging rod, 1000 Shimano Sedona with 10lb powerpro:

This is the drogue I use, and there's no harm in having a spare with you! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/300976617740?lpid=83&device=c&adtype=pla&crdt=0&ff3=1&ff11=ICEP3.0.0&ff12=67&ff13=80&ff14=83&ff19=0

A couple of H block markers are very useful to mark the start of drifts/concentrations of fish, and an echo sounder really helps you find fish once you've worked out what depth they're feeding at (mine is very basic).

I take a large landing net but it's only really in case a large unexpected pike turns up.

I take an unhooking mat to sit on, and tie it down with bungie cords. The usual unhooking equipment but a lot of them can be unhooked by hand.

I think that's it?

Now the weekends are open you want to book boats in advance - info and phone number here: http://www.anglianwater.co.uk/leisure/what-to-do/fishing/

Steve/Steve/anyone else, if you do fancy it let us know, it would be good to meet up!

Oh, rods - there aren't many to choose from really, the Savage Gear and Fox ones Rich mentioned, you might pick up a second hand one like mine, or the one before that is also good (it's green and called, from memory 'Luc Coppens Jig') but I haven't seen any around.

There is, as Rich says, a Greys one, but they reckon it can be used for either jigging or drop-shotting, and that rings alarm bells - too risky in my opinion.

If you have a short, light, fairly stiff general purpose spinning rod and don't want to shell out for something else just for a trip or two, you could certainly get by. But a purpose built rod would make it easier and more enjoyable.

5th/6th, 12th/13th, 19th/20th not bad, might have a bit of work to do over the weekends but could still fit in a day's fishing. 26th/27th not good, 2nd not so good, could do 3rd.

Steve both Rusty and Steve Holmes are interested but with Rusty`s dad`s funeral next Tuesday we had better wait till after that so poss 12th 13th subject to availability ,I will speak to him and Steve tomorrow and firm something up ....the weekend dates may well all be booked so we will have to see

You might want to see if boats are available before firming up plans - ignoring the weekdays (I have a few random weekdays booked) I have a boat booked on Sunday 6 and sat 19-sun 20. The weekends either side I have a boat booked at grafham. Just in case you want to try to co-ordinate :)

JV,

You could "show off" with rig #8 in post #57. Here's my favorite.

If you're non drifting you can reel slowly. A softtail lure or a lobworm if you can use live bait. Don't let the other guys know and you'll slay them. If you are fishing 40 plus feet probably 2 oz weight. You'll just have to decide what "feels" right.

Edit: just thought of a problem with lobs. A reasonably high percent are deep hooked. That doesn't matter over here - - - we eat em'.
