£750

I have had three text messages this year telling me I have won £750, and all I have to do to claim it is call a number. Being an old sceptic, I haven't called, believing it to be a con. But perhaps it is on the level, and I should plan for an early retirement.

Anybody out there actually won anything this way????, or am I dreaming.

Thanks

Bikenut, from the sound of what you describe, it could very well be a scam. I costs next to nothing to send a text, but the number you call could cost quite a bit if you dial it.

Not long ago there was an email floating around about dialing a certain number in regards to a member of the family. It ended up costing thousands of pounds or dollars. And no way to dispute it through your phone company. Sounds fairly similiar to me.

Either way it's probably better to let be. I've never gotten something for nothing, but then again if it is legit... Let me know!! :D

I got one last week for £160.00 of travel vouchers. Although it did say at the end of the text message that the cost of call was £16.50

Total waste of time as I never have more than £10 credit on my phone at a time.

I got one through the post (snail mail) last week, saying I had won £100,000, but had to send them £10 to claim my prize money. So I filled the form in, with a little note........PLEASE DEDUCT the £10 from my winnings for payment and forward me the £99,990. waiting in anticipation :) I'll let you all know, if I win...hoppy

On a similar slant, it was in the paper last week that Strathclyde Police had arrested 3or4 Ugandans in Glasgow for their part in the bank scam, seemingly they were over here to meet a "client" to fleece him of a right few bob.It seems they were caught in a scam themselves. :D
