I have a friend who is asking for help.

She has a nasty called New.net on her PC.

i advised malwarebytes but she said it didn't work.

In the add remove section she only gets the option [ change ] not remove.

she tried clicking on change but got nowhere.

any advice appreciated.

Cheers Fred

newdotnet is a browser hijack bho.

restart in safe mode

run ccleaner (download and install first)

open tools>startup

remove any listings showing newdotnet

choose next tab in ccleaner that says internet explorer

remove any BHO files listing newdotnet

close ccleaner

browse C drive in program files for newdotnet folder (c:\program files\newdotnet)

delete any folders found

restart and enter safe mode again

run Roguefix.bat (download here:https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/20359976/Roguefix_3.008.bat)

follow prompts and let it do it thing

run malwarebytes full scan

remove all found files

run CCleaner on system clean up and registry scan

open internet option then advanced> then choose restore advanced settings and then reset. tick all boxes in reset option

restart pc and test

roguefix is used as a clean up in and of itself in conjunction with the other two. there is no nee to run roguefix unless your 110% sure you've got an infection.

if that's the case, run roguefix>malwarebytes then ccleaner in that order.

roguefix will delete files and registry values_malwarebytes with then remove programs and folders/files that appear harmless or are just gateways..and ccleaner will then tidy up corrupt registry entries and those that are not needed anymore.

in everyday circumstances run CCleaner once a month and malwarebytes maybe too. that's all you should need on top of a good anti virus.
