Help Needed Desperately

With regards to a new mobo, you would need to know the exact type and speed, and these can run into hundreds of pounds. Best going back to the manufacturer with the model of PC and getting mother board info and prices, that way.

Motherboard appears to be obsolete :(

I phoned PC World, where it came from a couple of years ago, and a guy said that "it's an ATX motherboard, so any ATX board that takes your chip should be okay."

Does that sound right?

If you need the machine in a hurry, try plugging the hard disc into the *secondary* channel on the motherboard, there are usually two on the board(this channel is probably currently feeding the DVD or CD-rom).

With luck the 2nd. channel will be ok. You wouldn't have access to your DVD or CD-rom drives though, unless you configured one of them as a slave.

Forgot the cost of the bits around £120 -£150.

I've got a box only here at present all working just needs your HD fitting.

What's it worth 733 Pentium3 256mb memory Ati graphics card Sound blaster, CD, floppy and 56k modem. Also has a 4.3gig HD fitted and loaded with Win 98SE. Make me an offer I can't refuse. I'll even throw in a forecourt warranty. Once you are off my forecourt you've had your warranty!!
