DVLA Virus?

Why confused argyll?

The thread is about the DVLA Virus which isn't the name of any current critter.

The fella either did or did not have a virus infection of some sort. Probably not.

The fella either did or did not have his browser hijacked. Probably did.

The fella did remove lots of 'something' from his PC that were seen as bad things by something.

The authorities either did seize his PC or did ask him nicely for it, but in either case did take it somewhere to look for something.

They should either clean it and return it, replace parts and return it, or hold it for evidence until it is so totally obsolete it's worthless.

It is to be observed that 'angling' is the name given to fishing by people who can't fish.

If GOD had NOT meant us to go fishing, WHY did he give us arms then??

(If you can't help out someone in need then don't bother my old Dad always said! My grandma put it a LITTLE more, well different! It's like peeing yourself in a black pair of pants she said! It gives you a LOVELY warm feeling but no-one really notices!))

To be honest I just can't see this happening, so I'm going to go with jeepster on this one. Sorry it just sounds far fetched. One thing for sure...'quite common' it is not. Also what's this police 'hi-tech' unit. Email with flashing blue lights. STOP OR I'LL DELETE YOU !!!!!

Come on everyone its way past the 1st April. :D

He says he will be getting his PC back tomorrow.

Argyll, I've given you the email address of Dorset Police Hi-tech unit. Why don't you drop them a line.

Do a Google search on 'dorset police high tech unit' and read all about it.

You can see the National Hi-Tech Crime unit here:

http://www.nhtcu.org

Le Redoute looks like what he said, sounds. Try buying something from them!

Anybody tried to but anything from them last week?

He says he had a 80 gig hard drive before they took it away.

Please note that I did put a question mark after the thread title!

Whether it is a virus or not, I totally believe that this has happened to this chap.

Depends who you are.

It might not be quite common for you to visit a murder scene, but it would for a CID chap.

It might be quite common for a property manager to hold the benefit voucher books of his tenants, but it does happen.

Just because something doesn't happen to you, it does not means that it does not happen to lots of people.

I've never caught a Mullet on rod and line but for some people it is a quite common occurrance.

I do remember some time ago an email going around that said you could examine your own details stored on the DVLA computer (and if you could check them anyone else could!).

It gave the URL where you could go and enter information, and see what was held on you.

I never bothered as it seemed to me an early phishing ploy.

Maybe that's in the mix here somewhere?
