cant even find it never mind use it :confused: the available version isnt for home use hence a reason you may be having probs ,it`l be available on win update in drips and drabs and probably you wont need the whole thing

Its coming on a free cd on one of the PC mags next month, it'll take over 10 hrs to down load on a normal dial up apparently!

the win update site has radically changed sp2 is available only on auto update ,i think waiting months for it to download automatically will be to much for dialup ,i`l get the mag

Not sure where that came from but the facts seem to be that most users have zero problems with SP2, a faster PC (and especially with wireless networking) and are certainly less vulnerable to a variety of baddies.

 

Certainly, some issues with an update this large.

 

Certainly some applications that won't run after the update but that turns out to be mostly those that weren't real well written and whose authors ignored the months of information about testing their app.

 

Certainly some security holes were not patched but I haven't heard about it creating any new ones.

 

pumphypete - I can understand the need to continue to run 98 if you have older apps that won't run under XP. I can understand running Linux - good OS, lots of free or cheap software, fun to play with.

 

Why are you still running ME?

hi newt i run me for simple tasks that are on my 3rd drive, i keep 98 because its pretty stable& reliable ,lindows for fun ,linux for serious work and xp pro was free i do need a bigger drive though 120gb aint big enough for my needs might go for a 250gb or 300

I`ve been running SP2 since before it was RTM (released to manufactures) as I`m on the winbeta site

 

I`ve run SP2 since a very early build and have noticed no bugs whatsoever in the latest build.

 

My computer is not only more stable, its much quicker and less prone to stalling/freezing.

 

Its well worth the download and installation if you can find it as MS has now pulled it from their site

HI si Why do you think ms has pulled it from there site just try updateing any of your drivers it will update yes however it will also deleate the previous driver si if you have to do a driver rollback for any technical resons your up the creek without a paddle..

Drivers should be readily available from the hardware maker if you need to roll back to an earlier version.

I am not qualified to know whether this is what happened to me when the download started but have good reason to be pretty sure that it checked out my system and made sure that everything was in order before installing.

 

It definitely "repaired" MSN 6.2

 

I am running Norton 2003.

 

No problems whatsoever so far and definitely faster in certain applications.
