Wingham Fish-In 2014

So who is off to Wingham at the weekend and what do you hope to catch?

Myself and fishing buddy Cliff will be there again this year.

For me Wingham is the highlight of my fishing year as no other lake even comes close to matching the beauty and atmosphere of this incredible lake.

This year I will be hoping to up my tench pb which I have broken at Wingham on many occasions, and still currently stands. I've just returned from a 3 day session tench fishing down Linear to refine rigs etc and even though we only managed 2 fish each we will still be going into this trip beaming with confidence as we just don't get to fish gravel pits and have always found Wingham to be a little daunting.

Noticed we've got dropping air pressure over the course of the weekend. Hopefully this will get those tench on the munch :)

See you soon

Effort equals reward!!

I'm currently 'practicing' by catching quite a few accidental tench while on a crucian hunt. They don't half give you the run around on a 0.5lb tc rod and size 16 hooks!

And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music

Marks out of ten for the TFG Force 8 bivvy have just been updated from 10/10 to TBA. Didn't break anywhere near where I thought it might, one of the plastic hinges broke. Glued the spoke back in with Araldite, going to rebuild the housing with epoxy putty, just hope that will hold it. It won't fall down without it, and I will get away with it, but it won't be right.

Please would all those who volunteered to bring extra banksticks and bobbins do so. Many thanks indeed!

Steve B I'm really sorry but as I hadn't heard anything I won't have my long banksticks to lend out - I'm fishing for a couple of nights elsewhere and will be coming straight to wingham from here. Sorry about that.

No problem, Andrew, as we should have a few spare if everyone brings the spares they have.

Not the first horror story I've heard about those bivvies Steve... Shd be ok though.

I assumed the weak point was the lever you use to erect it, but this was just bending the strut down to slot it into the foot.

Hopefully this will hold.

I will bring along 2 pairs of long bank sticks. However my bobbins are currently taken apart for other projects as I currently favour short bobbins for most of my fishing. I do still have 2 odd longish ones, if you can take the shame of fishing with none matching kit.

1x 28 inch chain with clear blue bobbin and isotope

1 x 38 inch chain with solid yellow bobbin but no facility for isotope or starlight.

Will bring them along just in case there is a shortage.

Stephen
