it happens to me on XP about every 2 days ,on pressing the on-off button windows starts not knowing its frozen and its ok for a while ,a quirk i suspect rather than anything more sinister i hope ,mostly on startup but occasionally later

Believe NOTHING anyones says or writes unless you witness it yourself and even then your eyes can deceive you

None of this "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" crap it just means i have at least two enemies!

There is only one opinion i listen to ,its mine and its ALWAYS right even when its wrong

Its far easier to curse the darkness than light one candle

Capn - here is a step-by-step

- ignore Fear.... since 98 is a good OS and will do today everything it did when new. If you had ME, I'd have to agree with him though.

- If you know the exact card, go to the maker's web site and find the drivers for it and download them. Put them some place you can easily locate them later.

- If you aren't sure, open device manager and you should find the device with details. Then go get the drivers.

- In device manager, delete the video card entry. Then reboot.

- When 98 starts up it will notice you have a card that isn't in device manager and will want to install it. You should have the option to use your newly downloaded drivers for the install so do that.

If the video was the problem (and it often is) you should be cured.

My screen freezes just after I have updated Zone Alarm and have not turned off the Privacy Advisor. That thing never lets me do anything!
