Unfortunately you were right FearTheHands. Redirecting to the email address in the first line results in it being returned as below.

The returned mail is now set up on auto delete so its not a problem, but I havn't yet got the satisfaction of clogging up the buggers inbox. Any suggestions as to how I might trace the real e-mail address would be welcomed?

Further to that: I have just read your email header and I doubt very much if his email address is fwoecapf@t500.com

It is much more likely to be:

0H5C00UH602XO57@luminous.mcn.org

Davy,

I think someone is spoofing your email address.

And more....

You might want to consider the wisdom of bombarding email addresses with returned spam, if the address you THINK is the spammer's address is incorrect or someone else's you are now a spammer yourself and it is illegal to spam businesses, or if an individual they could complain to your ISP and you could have your account shut down.

The best thing is to complain to the spammer's ISP (if you can find it) but even then these spammers are pretty slippery.

Why not just live with the auto-delete option?

If the email is script/web server generated then you will not be able to trace the email address.

Best thing is to find the ISP & make a compliant - include the message header when contacting them

I regularly get spoof PayPal or Ebay messages which I check the header & contact the ISP to compliant - the sites are usually shut down in 24 hours

a big problem with mass returning of mail to spammers is the fact that it puts a huge drain on the web as a whole, and slows it down for the rest ofthe world, if everyone who received spam was to bounce it back, the web would grind to a halt. it may give you some pleasure, but it sure as hell messes it up for everyone else

Jeepster the internet is already gummed up with crap and please dont preach to me about making it worse. In this case I'm trying to be the solution not the problem. It may gum up the works but I dont intend to sit passively whilst my inbox is taken over. I figure if he gets enough back then he'll desist. I've also messaged the company whos penny shares the newsletter is so confidently and relentlessly pushing. Who do you think is employing the spammer to do this and who do you think is now automatically receiving copies of every bit of spam that he sends me? My version goes to them with a little header from me to the effect that this is an example of unsolicited mail that I receive and which is being sent out on behalf of their company. Please arrange for this to stop.

I figure nobody can accuse me of spamming when all I am doing is pointing out to them a problem and including yet another example and yes the spammers ISP has also been informed although several ISPs are involved. This guy is cute.
