Fishing 2014

I have been a bit off fishing just lately and have been thinking about what I want to do with it next year.

I have had an overdose of catching very many not very remarkable fish this year but one highlight was catching my first ever Wels catfish at around 100lb

That feeling of power on the other end is something that I would like to repeat.

It is also possible that 2014 may be my last year in this part of France.

My physical condition has not exactly improved over the past year either.

Given all of this I have decided to have a serious shot at catching some serious fish next year. This will entail doing more sessions and overnighters than I have in the past so less fishing but better quality.

Now France isn't a difficult place to catch big fish to be honest. The place is overun with destination fisheries of 2 or 3 acres offering a weeks drive and survive fishing for a known amount of large fish. The owner knows all of his fish because he gets to see them every other week. I don't really fancy that so I am planning on trying to get to know 3 large day ticket waters all around Le Mans just to the east of me. The smallest is 18 acres, the other two more than twice the size.

This is the smallest. It is also where I caught my big cat this year. It is not the most scenic and there is some road noise at night but it has easy access, it is not expensive and has some great fishing. Big carp including grass carp over 50lbs, big cats and some very nice sturgeon. My mate had a 47lber and that led him a hell of a dance.

This one is nice. 42 acres with some big carp and sturgeon. Very peaceful most of the time but very popular with Dutch anglers for extended sessions but big enough to get away from them

This is the lake for sturgeon fishing. \i haven't fished it yet but I am looking forward to it. It is probably one of the best sturgeon lakes in France.

I intend to try and fish these lakes seriously in the hope of catching some PBs. The problem is that in most cases I am not sure what my PBs are as I have never been that bothered about weighing fish. I will habe to exceed my current fish by quite a margin to be sure that I have a PB. Who knows, I might even get some scales.

Mr carp PB is a bit over 30lb but I don't really know so would like a 40lb + to be sure

Cat is estimated at 95lb + so a confirmed 100lb would be needed and id unlikely from thee venues.

Never caught a grass carp so anything will be welcome and a PB

Sturgeon was 24lb so that one is a realistic prospect.

Finally, if anyone of you guys would like to join me for a session you would be very welcome. You could stay initially at my place and we could maybe try a couple of venues (and there is also a very realistic prospect of a 100lb+ catfish from the local river.

Let's agree to respect each others views, no matter how wrong yours may be.
