Windows Error

Elton,

Turnpike 5 has a 2GB limit on the size of its mail database, exceeding it gives the error you describe. Have a look at the MSPOOL file. Mine is in

C:Program FilesTurnpikeMAIL

but it may be in

c:turnpikemailMSPOOL

If it's too large you need to either archive some mail or upgrade to TP6.

Mine's a tad over 2gb :(

Time to delete some junk....

Cheers, Steve.

I've left it running a rebuild at home.

Basically, I deleted about 30,000 emails and the MSPOOL stayed the same size @ just over 2 gig.

I'm just another poor victim, erm, I mean user :)

I like it because it doesn't run active content which makes it a lot more secure than Outlook, and because it includes a News client for Usenet. There are better mail clients and better news clients, but none which do both that I like enough to change. Also a bit of "better the Devil you know".

  • 1 year later...

It's done it again, but a rebuild didn't seem to work this time, even after having removed 10's of thousands of emails. :(

Hi Elton

given your posting on the other thread, here is the link to thunderbird. http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/thunderbird/

And I suspect that you may be able to import from turnpike into thunderbird. I seem to recall that turnpike used eudora as it's mail client (probably not visibly so), if I was you I would make sure I have my mail all backed up then try an import into thunderbird using the eudora checkbox

Best of luck :)

Nick

or you could of course buy a licence for the current version of turnpike for £17.62 inc VAT

http://www.demon.net/demon/products/intern...rnpikeuniversal

and it would seem if you bought a licence in the past that is still good!

People who purchased their copy of Turnpike in the past (i.e. they paid money for it and received a CD, manuals etc) already have a Universal License and need not purchase another. The 'Site ID' that was supplied with the purchased version of Turnpike must be applied so that the program is aware that a Universal Licence is owned. This can be checked by looking in the 'About' dialog. From Turnpike v4.02 onwards the version number will be followed by "S" if no Universal Licence is known about, by "U" if a Universal Licence is present and by "M" if this is a 'multi-user' version.
