Laptop

Fellas, I'm looking to jump in and buy a laptop.

 

I have seen an Acer Aspire 1690 - 1.6GHz Pentium M Centrino, 15.4" crstalbrite TFT monitor (widescreen). 80GB hard drive. 512MBRAM.

It also has the wireless thingy in to allow wireless internet connection. Will need a router to connect to my broadband modem, have seen a D-Logic for £50.

 

The laptop is priced at £749. Any techy types out there who could advise whether I'm looking ata good 'un please? :confused:

They are cheaper direct from ACER or Comet.

Good Laptops though.

Dixons have a few nice ones on sale at present.

Dell 2200, be patient and wait. You can pick up a bargain at £350 delivered if you buy at the right time of the month.....

 

The origo/connexant ebuyer branded ADSL/modem/router for about 40 notes is a pretty good piece of kit. Piece of **** to setup and I have three or four at relatives houses that chug away quite nicely (simple username, password setup).

Basically if you get the dell small business newsletters they hound you (almost daily) with links to special offer laptops/desktops, which anyone can buy (dell small business is actually a competing division against dell home - either group can buy from either site).

 

Several times a month we get newsletters for £300 to £350 laptops - that might be plus VAT though (I work ex VAT at work). I've bought two 2200 this month I think one was at £319 and one at £329 again, probably plus VAT and/or carriage but still under 400 notes all in.

 

I'll sift through my email at work in the morning and dig out the recent bits we've bought and see if the links are still valid.

BTW the 2200 includes wireless connectivity for Internet access (you need an access point) and integrated 56k if you need it (for dialup).
