anyone tried out the ubuntu distribution?

Sounds like it has the right aims, to make linux as easy to use as windows.

 

Just ordered some free cd's, (not even a charge for postage!)

 

I'll let you know how I get on once I receive the cd's and get it installed.

 

The guy behind the project is Mark Shuttleworth, the south african that just had a holiday in space!

im just downloading a copy now nick, we use linux to run pauls server in cardiff, very good it is too, but this one seems extremely easy to use. i will let you know in about and hour.

 

im getting both the install and live version, nice and handy to try that way cos it all runs in memory, great stuff.

mmmm, dld the live version, boots onto its own dos, then just sits there, non of the comands work, as soon as you try a command to boot it, it just sits at the command promt, will try the full install saturday and get back to you.

Try just hitting enter when you get to the command prompt.
