News of large evacuations of people in the Tonbridge area as the Medway rises and threatens the Tonbridge Flood Barrier :(

The river will continue to rise and is likely to still be swollen when the December 27th Storm arrives.

I feel really sorry for the many people whose Christmas's will be ruined.

The wey always floods here but luckily its mostly on flood plains ,i took my christmas prezzy to one of the landowners i detect on and the outlook from her house was amazing you could see right along the valley down to the bridge and it looked like a huge lake where the river had flooded .

Luckily we are on the first plateu so were 20 feet above the flood but going to another landowners house nearer the river a few feet higher and she would get flooded with water from the floodplain behind her.

Mind you its always like that here there is permanent flood warning signs on the approaches to the village.

The river can go uphill if one of tbe weys branches (they meet in the village) has a greater volume than the other

I have seen water coming in the backdoor of the pub and going out the front ,i have no pity for people next to rivers its obviasly quaint and picturesque but why dont they realise rivers naturally flood? The more yoe try to stop it the greater it floods when it finds a weak spot ,flood barries designed to stop water stop water draining back into the river when the levels drop its a double edge sword! Not only is the water deeper its deeper for longer

do you waste water, if so heed the trusts current policy on the stuff, education and metering is their current policy :clap3::unsure: :

Angling Trust’s predecessors and 15 other organisations four years ago. The Blueprint set out a detailed strategy for tackling low flows and addressing water wastage.

In summary:

  • Reduce consumption of water by 20% and from 180 litres per day per person to European average levels of 125 litres per day through education and metering.
  • Tackle leakage in water company supply pipes.
  • Introduce mandatory water efficiency standards in existing homes.
  • Make all new-build homes water neutral in areas where water is scarce; developers would have to ensure that new water usage is offset by investment in efficiencies elsewhere.
  • Amend or revoke damaging abstraction licences which damage river wildlife.
  • SET OUT A PLAN FOR INSTALLING WATER METERS IN EVERY HOME BY 2020 TO DETER EXCESSIVE USE. with tariffs to protect vulnerable customers.
  • Restore wetlands and halt development on floodplains to allow water to soak into the ground rather than disappear out to sea.

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

LOL - the house.

I'd imagine the 5th wheel would head for higher ground if flooding was likely and the family would commute from RV to house by boat.

Experienced this first hand yesterday. I spent Christmas and Boxing day at a friend’s house in Wittersham near Tenterden and decided to travel back last night because the forecast was looking grim.

Trying to get to the M20 via Leeds Castle failed because Leeds Village was flooded, I then went to Maidstone to use the A229 across the River Medway but that road was closed too. Maidstone town centre was a mess because everybody’s Satnavs (including mine) continued to direct them to the A229. I headed off piste to try a few back lanes but every option taking me north to the M20 was blocked by closed roads.

Eventually I shut the bloody Satnav down and got out the map book, the A20 to West Malling and hey presto the M20 beckoned. Once on the motorways the journey was a breeze but overall it took me 4 hours to do about 140 miles.

It's never a 'six', let's put it back
