GRAYLING BASH...TIMSBURY MANOR...NOV 12th

Enjoyed the place as usual, a fantastic fishery a worth every penny. The fishing was not as good as it has been in previous years, did manage a few fish and my mate really enjoyed it (Malc was his name Ferret). It makes a change from all the Barbel fishing we do together.

We had 20 Grayling between us upto 1.5lb with loads of Trout upto 4-5lb. The Trout were great fun on light tackle as usual. We found most the Grayling were in the shallower water on the main river and hardly had a touch in the deeper water, could only manage Trout in the deeper water. The fast carrier was really sparse with fish and is normally stuffed with them.

Great pictures too Dave as usual. Did not chat as much this year and only met a few new faces, so sorry for those whom I did not get to meet, there is always next time.

Ferret not that close a mate thank heavens, barbel fishing lessons, no problem i think Paul is sick of watching me catch doubles lol :P Paul is a very good angler just not as lucky as me this year.

It was nice to get a float on again and catch some different species and with good company always a joy. :)

Well I really enjoyed myself catching all of those minnows and gudgeon, but a least Sue caught her first Grayling, I've attached the picture. No doubt she will be posting later; claiming bragging rights.

Anway, we both enjoyed ourselves immensely and want to know when are we holding the Lower Itchen Fish In?

After a certain age, if you don't wake up aching in every joint, you are probably dead.

The long walk to the top swim was worth it for my first 'Grey alien' - it is a beautiful place. The aching bones today have reminded me to look at the price of trolleys for the next trip! Must be getting old. Thanks to the organiser for arranging the day and the lovely mulled wine - and for the record.. I enjoy catching minnows just have to bring more bait next time!

Where are the woman anglers then? Judy, you must join us sometime.

Mainly fished the deeper parts between the outlet of the fast carrier and the bridge, where grayling was scarce to put it mildly. Ended up though with a couple of cracking trout, with one Rainbow almost topping 6Ib – great fun on light float tackle.

Spent the last hour spinning with a Spring Dawg and managed to bank a small Jack and a 12Ib scrapper to end a magnificent day

Lovely venue + great company = fantastic day out :):)

They are ok now so no need for Malc to rub anything :D

Malc is excellent at pendulum casting, sure he will give some lessons at that:lol:

Just hide your nets and put your rods away when he does and duck

"Beware of low flying meat"

My pendulum casting will get better with time ( about 10 years methinks )
