There's a world of difference between someione taking advantage of a stupid 15 yoear old girl who throws herself at him and a predator setting out to abuse minors as was the case with Savile and Gadd.

 

Savile is still the biggie because it's quite possible that hospital staff and managers who facilitated or were complicit with his crimes are still in post - and if they are, they need routing out.

There are a couple of recordings that have emerged that indicate that Savile's activities were well known - both are a little sweary.

this week here at the school we had a shocking situation...for several reasons. it involved facebook and very very silly pupils aged between 12 and 14.....nuff said

suffice to say we now have a lot of utterly shocked and devastated parents who simply thought their young kids had no idea about sex!

what it does go to prove is that in this day and age our youth are being far more sexual than anything our previous generations did or even had the chance to do! (at least from my own experience)

 

nothing really gives an excuse for an older person to consider such actions with a minor...however as you say: there is a world of difference between a sexually aware 14-16 year old offering and getting attention and a sexual predator who actively seeks and forces such.

 

however society has a lot to answer for as well...what; 2 decades ago, would have been a 16 year old sharing intimacy with his 14 year old sexually aware girlfriend; can these days get the lad labelled as a sexual predator and slammed on the sexual offenders list!

 

im on the fence with a lot of this stuff and what we actually get to hear about from our glorious "trusted" news networks.

to me some of it is like my view on WW2 criminals being dragged back to courts....its far too long ago...the person is dead or whatever

its a really tough subject and its a very subjective subject as well.

from one point of view there are women who openly flirt and its easy to take one step too far...from another point of view you need a full green light and permission in triplicate to even hint at anything!

get it wrong and the war cries are loud and clear and the witch hunt begins....and a lot of the time views and opinions are swayed to such an extreme state that there is little to no chance of actually logically understanding the situation as it happened.....add to that the 50+ years of memory loss or slight changes in memory.

 

in Savilles case I think its pretty clear what was going on....and for sure people need to get sat on for letting it carry on....

for the others...suffice to say I wouldn't fancy being the judge or jury

Its just a good job girls dont lie about their age or are not strangely attracted to power money and influence as in the case of the french pm!

Hand on heart i never demanded any proof of age from my sexual partners ,i feel sorry nowadays or its my age i cannot tell a schoolgirl from a shop girl ,at least when i was at school they looked like schoolgirls

 

The only difference is the availability of sexual imagery. ( dont like the word porn it makes it look dirty) we used to whisper and imagine and crow over health and efficiency mags brought in by schoolmates and giggle over the pictures ,now it all out there at the click of a mouse.

Nothing wrong with sexual imagery i saw my first what was called hard core porn film at 15 at my first job but it didnt turn me into a monster just a lad who made just a little more effort because i new where the goal was

 

I have been exposed to pedos luckily avoiding their traps but the worst was a bunch of female co workers when i turned 16 ,not a nice experience when they had the control! Far worse attitude than men once they get their blood up!

How come we haven't seen any offences of Men taking women to court for indecently assaulting them, I know when I was at school, this rather nice lovely gorgeous (Female ) teacher always wore low necklines and when sat at her desk, you could not get near for young lads pushing to get their books marked Lol and, I think most of them would have given there high teeth to be Sexually assaulted by her.

Too true chesters, many a lad in his late teens early twenties then, would be on the register now. I had a couple of close calls at parties in the early 70s when things got a bit heated, and only the intervention of mates telling me she was 14 in one case, and 15 in the other prevented things from going further.

Even when at school I remember a group of lasses, (14 to 16), having a league table for band members they could get off with. At a gig it was high points for the lead singer, down to low ones for the roadies! I wonder how many of them could claim now, 40 odd years later, and with a different public attitude, and win?

 

As for a room full of women. I started work as an apprentice sheet metal worker. In the same yard was a clothing mill, and we used to have to go get waste cloth/cotton waste for cleaning refurbished stainless, from the mill. We had to go across a room with about 200 women, (of all ages) to get the waste. It was a cross between heaven and hell for a young lad straight from school. I was grabbed, groped, taunted, and given graphic descriptions of what they could/would do to me if given the chance. After a few months you found out who was just 'having fun', and which ones actually meant it. The 'for real' ones were mentally noted for later!

Some things classed as assault now, were thought of as 'having a bit of fun', and treated as the norm' back then. With the exception of such as the Saville case, it is hard to judge without having been there, and knowing what really happened. I wouldn't like to be on a jury, remembering some of the things I experienced back then, and having to judge by todays laws and opinion.

 

Living in Leeds, I met Saville many times, and knew of the rumours, but thought of it just like the cases above, with ready and willing mid teenagers. I even have a photo somewhere, where my daughter, then 12, completed a charity fun run, and had her picture taken with his arm around her. I must admit that I kept a very close eye on him at the time.
