Edonkey is a free program that enables you to share files. Rather like winmx, Limewire etc.

Argyl the only p2p not running at the moment is winmx which I am informed is running somewhere on the net in disguise. Limewire and edonkey have simply put a disclaimer on the download asking you not to infringe copyright.

Jimpy, I am wondering how to get the best out of this package. Settings etc.

peer-to-peer softweare enabling you to 'share' and download free, other peoples movies and music. Napster was the most famous. The entertainment industry and UK authorities are slowly cracking down on users. Big fines if you get caught downloading..

Not exactly the same idea but with the same problems, here's an interesting website at http://www.allofmp3.com/ Its based in Russia, makes a charge to download tracks but just pennies. It claims to break no russian laws but since its a pound to a rouble that they pay no royalties to the record companies, it will be illegal to use it in most other countries including the UK.

WinMX wasn't down for long - about three days I think. You need to update your software though - beware - there are plenty of scammers about charging for 'patched versions' which connect to effectively 'private' P2P networks (using the Winmx software).

Visit www.winmxworld.com for more info :)
