they already have and know exactly who you are, where you are at any one time, phone and number plate, what's the problem with the medical records, why are they required to be so secretive and what difference does it make. Is it not just an easy way for the likes of the insurance co's preventing scams? So what's the problem?

Would you want your automotive insurer to have full access to details of your history of motoring related data - parking violations, speeding fines, VOSA inspection data, police stops, MOT records, drink driving details etc?

No?

Same difference.

Medical records often contain familial histories, results of tests (including DNA analysis) as well as the fact that it has been felt appropriate to perform a test, lifestyle details etc. Lots of stuff that insurance companies would just love to set their computer algorythms loose on to find out whether you're a bad bet.

So long as the promises of anonymity are honoured, I see no problem. If they are not, then there is a big problem.

You trust all sorts of private and public organisations with all sorts of personal data.
