Pond life in January

Fantastic that you've got GCNs in your pond. Like almost everyone else, I only have common newts in mine :(

:clap3: Last year I had loads of palmate and smooth newts and didn't see a female GCN but had some young GCN's at the end of the year, so must of had at least one female GCN but a fantastic breeding year for the smooths and palmates but due to the lack of tadpoles the young were predated by their parents. Not so many newts this year, don't know why but should be a good couple of years to come judging by the amount of frogs and spawn. :clap3:

:clap3: Had a good hatch of tadpoles yesterday, just a few more and they'll all be out. Some fat and contented newts about now. Just have to put some more daphna in for the newt hatch to feed on and nature will take care of the rest (hopefully). :clap3:

working in someone's back garden this week, the ex pond is going to be a flower bed, so cleared it out , while doing that had loads of newts that I had to relocate in the garden. Took the top off the existing foul sewer inspection chamber and found another 3 living happily on top of the benching. Didn't know newts liked that kind of errrm dinner.

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

:clap3: They probably don't but it's warm in there, probably some grubs and worms in there too. Should relocate the newts to a pond, preferably without fish as they are spawning now.

:clap3: All frog spawn now hatched, except for one lump that was above the waterline, the top got frost bite with the only frost we had so died but all in all a good result. Plenty of newts spawning now, hopefully it will be a good year. :clap3:

 Spoke too soon, not seen a tadpole for a few days now but a lot more newts after the rain we've had, must've been some late arrivals. Newts spawning everywhere, lovely to see them mooching about. :clap3:

:clap3: Sat by the pond having lunch in the sun, I can't believe how many newts there are, either spawning or just sun bathing, now I know why I haven't seen a tadpole for ages, there aren't any, they've all been eaten, hard life being a tadpole. :clap3:

:clap3: Watched Mrs GCN laying her eggs and removed 1/3 of them to an aquarium for safe hatching, should give them an increased chance of survival . :clap3:

:clap3: Cleared some duck weed off the surface today to let the sun in, found a couple of plump tadpoles in the net, should be too big to be eaten now, except by the GCN'S. Hopefully some will survive to breed in the years to come. :clap3:

:clap3: Now got young newts in two locations, separated by size as the bigger ones will eat the smaller ones, all doing well, will put the bigger ones into the pond next week, the smaller ones in about another week, they should be pretty safe then. :clap3:
