Scanned Negatives

since my old scanner is on its last legs, I'm in the market for a new one and I'll probably buy an Epson Perfection. (3490?)

This may seem like a silly question to some of you experienced Photoshoppers but once you've scanned a film negative, can you digitally reverse it to a positive image?

Thanks for that Colin. Might make Welney, but I'll have to see how the old man is doing at the weekend first. Not too well at the moment.

it makes negatives positives if it has a transparency adaptor ,my old revscan has one built in ,i put up with its so so scanning ability because it has the negative function, its a little chunky by todays scanners

Nice scanner Argyll but no good if you're running Windows XP pro x64 as Epson still haven't released any x64 drivers.

I've contacted Epson myself and they are still uncertain if they will.

I have an Epson Perfection 2480 that scans negatives. It's all automated & will produce a 'normal' image to your Photo editing software, no need to mess about.

I bought the scanner specifically because of this feature & am very very pleased with it ...

Thanks all, I bought the Epson 3490 with transparency and negative scanning hardware/software. I got it from PC World who's on-line price of £61 was 18 quid cheaper than their in-store price. However if you order on-line and give them at least one hour to make the arrangements you can pick it up and pay the on-line price for it at your local nominated store. Worth noting that this arrangment is available for a number of other PC World products. Check out their website.

Interesting to see some idiot pay £83.54 for the same item inc postage on Ebay this morning and they'll have bit of a wait before it arrives..
