We simply glue a crown on our rock pigeons. We don't have crested pigeons to my knowledge. Nice picture of something new to me.

Australia has 4 species, the crested, the western plumed pigeon, the plumed pigeon and the topknot pigeon.

Even if you discount anything that has "dove" "fruit-pigeon" "imperial-pigeon" or the like in its title., that still leaves

White-headed pigeon (baldies) Columba leucomela on your doorstep.

Wonga pigeon Leucosarcia melanoleuca not too far south of you

Squatter pigeon Geophaps scripta inland from you

 

We have seen all three on our visits to Queensland, but missed

Partridge pigeon Geophaps smithii up at your old stamping grounds on the Ord river
