Next month we are going down South to Spain for a couple of weeks. We will be driving around quite a bit and will need to keep in touch with emails etc.

We will be taking an Ipad which is not internet connected and lap top. We do not posses smartphones and wouldn't know how to use one.

What is the best way to keep connected? I have been looking at PAYG dongles but does it matter which provider you get?

3 seem to offer some good deals but how does that work in Spain, do you get extra "roaming" charges?

Thanks

Are there not places there where you can go and use a connection for a few Euros when necessary, rather than pay lots of Euros for a short term solution. Also I thought that all ipads had a wireless connection, so you can just link up when needed

You will want a device that can do wifi connections. With that you can go to pretty much any place that offers wifi (many cafes in the US do and I imagine the same is true in Spain). Your device should automatically connect at any of those. There should be places in the UK where you can try it out before you go. I don't use any of the iWhatever devices but from reading, I think all of them can connect to the internet as will pretty much any smart phone.

When we are traveling, I can go into any McDonalds, connect to the internet, check email, and all of that.

Do a google search for wifi hotspots spain

Thanks all

Yes, some places may have wifi but we will be a bit off the beaten track and we do need to respond to customers quickly so we don't want to be out of touch all day when we are in the car.

In that case, your only viable option will probably be a connection to a satellite provider which will not be inexpensive.

a google search for europe satellite internet providers should give you a good look at your options. You need to know that satellite connections are slow when compared to the high speed service & rates you are accustomed to.
