New licences

far as I know they can all access the database remotely and it shouldn't be an issue if you don't have the card but have paid.

I also keep a photo of the front and back of mine on my phone; that way they can check my number and my signature against one of my debit cards etc if they really get arsy about it.

in fact as a tip for people I do that with a lot of cards: I use a secure app that requires a password/series of gestures to open the private image gallery and store images of cards, licences etc all in there for safe keeping.

I wouldn't worry about it. I've been stopped on a day when I didn't have my card (the only time I've been checked in the last ten years) and I just showed some ID, gave my name and address and they were able to check the database remotely.

Do be careful. I got checked a few years ago. I had a licence but had misplaced the print out if my email. The baliff couldn't contact the office and he gave me a ticket saying it would get cancelled when they could confirm I'd paid.

All fine I thought until they tried to prosecute.... All sorted in the end but a pain in the bum non the less.

My check was back before the credit card size licences so the paper licence was actually with my club books (now also credit card sized) in another fishing bag.

These datys they're allways in my wallet so there;s just a few days at the star of the season when my card might not have arrived in the post.

STILL my licence hasn't arrived.

emailed them again a couple of days ago.

They have replied:

Thank you for your enquiry regarding the non receipt of your Rod Licence.

I can see that my colleague did order a replacement however there has been an issue with the Post Office system for licences ordered between 17th & 31st March 2014. This should have been sorted now and all licences should be sent out before the end of the week.

If you still have not received it by 23/04/2014 please let us know and we will either order another one for you or arrange for a hand written licence to be sent out. You can still fish if you take your receipt/confirmation with you along with another form of ID such as a drivers licence.

Waiting........

  1. Permanent fishing licence card with a unique ID code and photograph on it.
  2. Monthly direct debit from your account to EA
  3. Smartphone app for EA bailiffs to scan a bar code on your licence card and check your licence status

No more forgetting, no more once a year rush, no waiting for it to turn up in the post. Renew your card every ten years or whatever, use the same tie-up that exists between passports and driving licences to reuse photographs.

Ho Hum........

Good morning,

Thank you for your email regarding your rod licence.

We experienced a technical problem with the printing of licences purchased on and around the date of your order. This problem has now been resolved and all licences have been sent.

Should it be the case that you have still not received your licence, please respond to this email quoting your full name, address, date of birth and licence number. We will update any address details that are incorrect on our system and re-issue the licence. For licences where we have all address details recorded correctly, we will reissue the licence and send it to you via recorded delivery.

While you are waiting for your licence to arrive, you can still fish, as long as you have you proof of purchase or your rod licence number, and a form of identification.

I trust that you will find this helpful. If you have any question, please contact us and we will be happy to help.

With kind regards,

Edward Harvey
