Guest Feels like Winter to me

SUN 11th DEC 2005

 

Sunday saw members of the Whitby Sea angling club fish their annual christmas match. A flat calm sea with a small ebbing tide meant conditions were far from perfect. Glenn Kilpatrick won the trophy for the heaviest bag of fish with 10 whitings for 6 pounds 0 ounces. The prize for the heaviest single fish went to newcomer Mark Smith with a fine cod of 4 pounds 12 ounces.

 

Results : 1st G Kilpatrick 6-0(10), 2nd M Smith 4-12(1), 3rd P Hoy 3-5(3), R Allison 2-10(4), W Atkinson 2-1(3), A Kelly 1-14(2), M Pitman 1-12(1), J Ebbison 1-0(1), J Gilpin 0-14(1), P Dryden 0-8(1)

 

WED 7th DEC 2005

 

Wednesdays match was fished over high tide with a slight north easterly swell in the water. Dave Perret rediscovered form and won the match with 5 fish for 15 pounds 2 ounces. William Atkinson who continues to fish well took second place with 3 fish for 8 pounds 9 ounces.

 

Results: 1st D Perret 15-2(5), 2nd W Atkinson 8-9(3), 3rd R Allison 4-5(1), M Pitman 3-10(2), A Kelley 3-7(3),C Stainthorpe 2-13(2), P Mead 2-5(1), G Kilpatrick 2-0(1), G Middlemass 1-3(1), D Smith jnr 1-2(2), D Thompson 1-0(1), D Mcarthy 0-15(1), J Ebbison 0-14(1), A Cass 0-9(1), P Kilpatrick 0-9(1).

 

SUN 4th DEC 2005

 

Sundays match saw Whitby sea anglers fishing both their own club match and the Cloughton open which was a heaviest fish match. Adrain Kelly managed 3rd place overall in the Cloughton open with a fish of 7 pounds 9 ounces. The results for the Whitby sea anglers match were as follows.

 

RESULTS: 1st R Allison 8-6(2), 2nd A Kelly 7-9(1), 3rd W Atkinson 6-7(2), G Middlemas 4-8(1), G Kilpatrick 4-2(1), D Thompson 3-6(1), C Stainthorpe 2-15(1), B Harland 1-15(1), M Vasey 1-9(1).

 

WED 30th NOV 2005

 

Whitby sea anglers were met by excellent conditions for their 3 hour midweek match. A dieing northerly sea swell with coloured water at most venues meant catches were well up on those of late. Six anglers returned to the scales with double figure bags and both the heaviest fish and bag of the season were beaten. Brian Harland recaptured his early season form and won the match with 7 fish for 25 pounds 10 ounces which is now the heaviest bag of the season. Dennis Thompson came a close second with 5 fish for 21 pounds 7 ounces the biggest of which, a fine cod of 10 pounds 5 ounces, is now the heaviest fish of the season to date.

 

Results : 1st Brian Harland 25-10(7), 2nd D Thompson 21-7(5), 3rd G Middlemass 15-4(5), A Kelly 14-6(3), R Allison 12-15(4), G Kilpatrick 12-8(2), P Kilpatrick 9-0(4), P Hoy 7-15(3), P Mead 3-5(1), B Vasey 2-4(2), W Atkinson 1-12(1), M Robinson1-7(1), C Stainthorpe 1-2(2), M Vasey 0-13(1)
