As for the Coot, I snapped one at close quarters earlier today (shame i chopped its tail off).

Nice. I like bird pictures, myself. In fact, I missed a shot of a male wood duck in the stream behind my home last spring - the danged bird lit out before I could get the camera ready. I hope to have another chance sometime. Their feathers are prized by fly fishermen. Here's what they look like:

I like this photo,we spent many great nights here watching the world go by in Cannes.

I think it does show the world going by.

Fishing seems to be my favorite form of loafing.

I know the joy of fishes in the river through my own joy, as I go walking along the same river.

What do you think if the float does not dip, try again I think.

Works for me Medway. Terrific shot, the photo seems to really draw you in. I like everything about it & see something new each time I look at it. (BTW - when we visited Cannes it poured with rain, so we drove to Nice & got carjacked  )

Severus - bizarrely, until last week I'd never heard of a Wood duck, but then photo'd a male and female at a pond up in Cumbria.

Steve - stunning landscapes, do you use any filters when taking them & if so what? I'd love to take landscape shots like yours.

Nursejudy, fabulous shot of what looks a lovely spot. Nice one!

I permanantly have a UV filter on my lens, but this is more to protect my lens than anything else. At a fiver a go its cheaper to replace if it gets scratched.

Everyone one who can, should have a UV filter on their cameras for the very same reason.

I have ordered a polarising filter which should be with me in the next week, I've ordered hat because all to often my skies are "washed out".
