Win win situation, undetectable for some time and the joys of living the life you detest as the symptoms appear and you start work.

Still not wanting to close the borders ....all of them

Trouble is they are wide open as we know there was less chance of getting here in tudor times ,now we invite the scum of the earth to come here

Ken,

Did I see where malaria deaths just passed 500,000 and it's just Oct.

Whilst I know this is a thread about a new "plague" I wonder what the numbers are for - ohh - AIDS; malnutrition; pervasive diarrhea? Callous lot, those of us with NHS and a full belly.

Culled from post #73:

As fascinating and terrifying as Ebola is though (so far), it's small potatoes as far as global killers go.

AIDS killed 1.5 million people in 2013 - 75% of them in sub-Saharan Africa.

Malaria kills over half a million people every year - 90% of them in sub-Saharan Africa.

I get your point but if it gets into the worlds megacities, this thing could dwarf those figures in a couple of months.

There are reasons why diseases that don't have a big impact on first world countries don't get much funding.

Who knows, when (if) they ever get the lid on ebola, perhaps the threat of disease will be taken seriously enough to persuade the rich countries of the world to spend the money required to tackle scourges like AIDS, malaria and TB as well as to tackle the looming crisis of antibiotic resistance.

I can forgive the ignorance and superstition of terrified uneducated people, but that American academic needs firing for being as thick as pigshit.

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

That's Monrovia's main paper and the selection of most popular stories listed on the right of the page is rather depressing.
