My sister needz to update her bathroom to white rather than 1976 colour !

Bath easy ,basin very easy but her toilet is very strange ,the house is unusual construction so her soil pipe inside the house but above the floor ,the gap between the toilet waste pipe is 220mm from the wall with the cistern touching the wall not the usual 130 to 150 so the horizontal waste pipe can have a right angle bend on it to connect to the soil pipe ,any ideas what this gap is called or where such a bog can be sourced ,thanks

is the wsp coming out of the floor or wall?

 

you can get a 90 degree pan connector that comes back on it's self. if it is the floor, is it solid, concrete or wood? is the wsp cast iron or plastic?

ahh,

most if not all bogs are 'p' traps today, if you are saying that the pipe is coming out of the floor and it's too far from the wall, you can choose a back to the wall pan. with a hide away cistern for example. I have even chopped the floors before now to move the pipe over by stuffing on a couple of slow bends, sounds like a mild inconvenience.

The toilet .

waste pipe faces the wall but the plastic bend is 90 degrees straight down onto the soil pipe ,the soil pipe runs along the floor not under it at 90 degrees to the bog ,if you used a bend that folded backwards (some bogs are designed for that purpose) it couldnt bend fast enough to connect to the pipe as the soil pipe is touching the wall itself so 90 degrees is the only way possible.

We could move a standard bog out but then you couldnt get to it because of the airing cupboard ,the coloured bog is off the shelf somewhere but we need it in white

I have never seen such bodging even the bath has been put on a plinth so its waste pipe has enough fall to connect to the waste pipe !.

It must have been bodged in the 80's when an extension was put up ,the original hole the soil pipe was in is between the floor but for some reason the soil pipe was removed and put on the floor itself but hidden under a long cupboard from the bog to the wall adjoining the extension it then goes down to a bog downstairs in the extension.

I presume the pipe goes to what was the external wall then somehow moves 6ft sideways and drops to the bog below ,weird design

 

I have sussed what they did ,i guess the soil pipe was originally on the rear of the house but when they built the extension it was in the way so they moved it to the side wall (there wouldnt be a hole all the way to the side between the floor because of the joists) so tbey laid it on the floor and boxed it in and took it out the side wall and down and a pipe connects it to the other bog and back to the sewer under the extension floor.

Because there was no fall on the bath waste they had to raise the bath 6" so it now connected to the soil pipe 6" higher than it was.

Not at sisters now but cistern sits further back than most bogs (not a seperate cistern though like those toilets with a pipe)) so the pan is further out but the waste to wall measurement is definitely 230mm not the usual 130mm ,its the usual 150mm from the floor to center of waste pipe.

A standard bog call couldnt fit because the soil pipe would stop the back of the cistern touching the wall because the pan would hit the soil pipe and the waste pipe would be beyond the center of the soil pipe (if it just squeezed in) so a 90 degree bend couldnt connect to the soil pipe

I suppose a flexible waste pipe and cutting the soil pipe and a standard bog could work with the flexi pipe connecting to the end of the pipe but its far easier for me (a plumber quoted her 2.5 grand to fit a new suite which she doesnt have) to find the same bog but in white.

The bath is standard so £115 inc fittings and the basin £60 inc fittings so if we can source this bog in white i can fit it all for vastly less ,making her happy and me smug

ok, beginning to understand thanks. From the floor is ok, any way this pipe can be cut and cranked back to the wall. they used to make, 'p' trap wall/floor, 's' trap, floor and very rarely a 'q' trap that enables a connection to the side. love to look at it.

As the soil pipe is accessible (boxed in?) can you cut off a section about half way and alter the end where the pan fits? A P pan and R/A bend might then do it?

obviasly a bit tardy with the mop!

note the distance from the wall so the connector is 90 degrees ,if we used a gap of 130mm could a flexi pipe do the job? it would have to drop 90 degrees to miss the wall then curve back to plug in the end of the pipe
