Update.

One step forward 3 back as normal in her hell of a house.

New bath 2 inches narrower so i had to fit a plank to extend the step further so the bath panel has something to rest on ( the bath is raised so theres a fall to the waste pipe),panel will not sit vertically with this plank one end but bath and plank parallel with it out! On back burner.perhaps the wooden frame under bath lip is not true?

 

Removing old worktop removed all the tiles behind it as it was glued to them ,replaced tiles (tiling was not mentioned LOL) ,removed old bog it had been tiled around so more tiling!

 

Fitted new work top ,new tap sits on work top not sink (very posh) ,no drilling template ,lots of bodging needed to get it in without extending over the diameter of its foot print ,securing bolts supplied to short to put the nuts on under the counter ,replacement bolts at home ,its supply hoses did not fit the converters on pipe from old basin ,trip to shop!

 

Outlet under basin has a washer the washer shops the basin sitting flush on the work top ,a groove would have solved it but basin designers to idle to design one.

 

Toilet soil pipe blocks isolating valves on pipes to sink ,no separate isolating valve to bog so soil pipe has to be left until last to be put back in position .

 

Isolating valve now fitted to bog so basin can be used hot water supply just a trickle because her house has a flat roof and no loft header tank 2 feet above tap so no real pressure ,bog plumbed in to supply ,soil pipe reinstalled first flush the curved flexi pipe the "plumbers" supply shop insisted was fine fell off and flooded the floor ,tried again twice more fell off twice more ,bog left unusable over weekend.

 

Shower screen sister bought cannot go up it will hit a pipe in the wall to shower and not able to lower or raise it because bath to high .

Sounds like fun to me Dave. A few more jobs like that and you will start to see the pitfalls BEFORE you commit yourself

I live on the swings and roundabout outlook ,shes been good to us over the years and its my way of thanking her .

Plumbing is fairly easy on paper but the knack of making it easy is learnt by doing it probably more than once and knowing the short cuts and tricks of the trade doing it for a job which i dont LOL

If its as difficult as i am finding it the money she was quoted wasnt to bad but i think i am doing the plumber a favour by him not getting the damned hassle of doing it

Update ,nearly crying today started at 9 am on the bloody bog ,the totally flexy pipe was useless so i got her to get a 90 degree version with flexy on the end ,damn thing kept creeping off the bog soil pipe ,pushed it on and immediatly it started moving off ! I think a badly cast pan but we found her original 90 degree one was fine but ofcourse it wouldnt connect to the soil pipe because it didnt line up!

Instead of blubbing as i hung from a tree in despair i cut off the flexi off the first flexi pipe and slid it up the non flexi one ,it bloody worked it sat fine.

 

 

 

Now i do learn from my mistakes and now it can never come off it has four tiles glued to the wall holding it tightly in place !

 

Not the end of this bogs spite ,i screwed it to the wall and tested it ,no leaks from the new supply arrangement that had to be redone to go around the alternate bends but on putting in the screws that usually are angled to screw the bog to the floor found the holes are parallel to the floor ? .

Bog out again two bits of wood made to screw to the floor and the bog could then screw to those holding it firm .

At quarter to one it was done ! Frickin thing but now she has a bog and knows where the valve to turn the water off is just in case ,bit strange i think to see your poop going down the pipe i think a little box needs to be made to hide that bloody awful pipe.

 

Next week i have to bodge the wall the old cupboard hid, her new one is shorter !!!

The new cupboard is really a base unit but ofcourse now she had the complete work top cut to 55cm (to fit an existing cupboard we are leaving as the soil pipe is in it)i have to cut off the back of the base unit so the damn work top has a overhang ,it was ofcourse designed for an uncut work top but luckily removing the overhang on the real of the cabinet will solve it (fingers crossed)

The house is cursed mate ,just drilling one brick demanded a trip home 10 miles for my sds drill all the rest after that one brick turned to dust .

 

The bloody stairs kill me theres 4 flights i live in a bungalow its like frickin mountain climbing !
