Pheasant Plucking

I grew up eating pheasant (as a gamekeepers son) I'd rather have a chicken at this stage...or better still theres nowt better than a wild goose, followed by a few Duck......................droolll........

i've had my fill of birds (and no, i'm not turning a bit poofy) the perfect meal for me now, and indeed the meal i'll be serving to my family on christmas day is a whole forerib of beef on the bone, served rare as can be, but seared crisp on the outside. perfect!

Clean and dress your birds as soon as possible after the kill.

 

If you do that, you might as well buy a chicken from Tesco's.

 

Hang it in the feather for a week at a temperature just above freezing.

 

Some say hang them by the tail feathers until the body drops to the floor.

This thread seems to get a lot of hits from search engines for some reason. perhaps I should try eating one of these pheasant things.... :D

 

Trouble is they are addictive mate. I used to get plenty from my Father-in-law but I don't know how my missus cooked them. I remember not being too impressed with the first I had but after that I liked them more and more until I was frequently asking for pheasant for dinner. Casseroled wood pigeon is pretty near as good.
